Abstract
The University of Tikrit’s Department of Horticulture and Gardening Engineering conducted a field experiment under the wooden cover. The effects of licorice powder and dry yeast additions on the growth and chemical properties of Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni were studied in the field. Three levels of licorice (0, 5 and 10 g) and yeast (0, 2.5 and 5 g) were used. Compared to the control, licorice and yeast significantly increased plant height, number of leaves, leaf thickness and nutrition levels. The highest ratios were obtained with 10 g licorice and 5 g yeast, with the plant reaching 97.5 cm in height, 789 leaves and 0.74 mm in leaf thickness. The highest phosphorus content in leaves was 8.12% with this treatment combination. Nitrogen levels peaked at 18.87%, while sugar levels peaked at 16.89%. At 134.2 g/L, the vitamin C content was maximized. With licorice and yeast, total phosphorus increased significantly, reaching 8.34% with the 10 g licorice and 5 g yeast treatment. These findings suggest that licorice powder and dry yeast applications promote Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni growth and nutrient levels. 10 g licorice and 5 g dry yeast were found to be the best application rates.
