Abstract
Ganoderma lucidum, commonly known as Lingzhi or Reishi, is a renowned medicinal fungus with a rich history of enhancing health and extending life.G. lucidum holds great promise in the Himalayan region, where biodiversity preservation and sustainable resource management are priorities. First, growing this mushroom can relieve strain on ecologically fragile places by giving local residents another source of income. Additionally, in line with the region’s dedication to sustainability, the manufacturing of bioactive chemicals from G. lucidum can aid in the development of environmentally friendly goods like biodegradable plastics and natural insecticides. The goal of this review paper is to examine G.lucidum’s unrealized potential as a useful tool for managing natural resources and conserving biodiversity in the Himalayan region and will examine its bioactive components, therapeutic potentials and potential ecological advantages for nearby populations. The Himalayan region may make substantial progress towards striking the delicate balance between environmental preservation and socio-economic growth by utilizing the power of G. lucidum, assuring a sustainable future for future generations.
