Abstract
All around the world, electric vehicles (EVs) are being used and promoted as environment-friendly alternatives to IC engine-based vehicles. Following the worldwide trend, electric vehicles are emerging as a prospective mode of transportation in India. As Indian traffic condition variations are different as compared to developed countries, an understanding of the effect of various vehicle parameters on the operation and performance of EVs in Indian conditions is essential. Keeping this objective, the present research analyses the Indian drive cycle (IDC) with vehicle dynamics parameters, such as rolling resistance, aerodynamic drag, acceleration, etc., with their effect on the performance of EVs. For the research two models of e-scooter were selected. Both vehicles have similar configurations except for their mass and projected area. There is a difference of 7.35% and 5.55% in mass and projected area, respectively, among the two-wheelers selected. After the analysis of traction torque and power requirement, the energy required for complete IDC has been calculated for each model. It is concluded from the analysis that there is a difference of approximately 6.68% in the efficiency of e-scooter models once both the models were test run under similar conditions on the road.
